MIKTA event – “MIKTA Night in Malaysia” (25 May 2017, Kuala Lumpur)

An event with the theme of “MIKTA Night in Malaysia” was co-organized on 25 May 2017 by MIKTA countries’ embassies at Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with the participation of academics and diplomatic corps.

 

As the Guest of Honour, Ambassador Dato’ V. Sudha Devi, Director General of the Department of Policy Planning and Coordination in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, gave a speech on the positive approach of Malaysia towards MIKTA.

 

Assoc. Prof. Cheng-Chwee Kuik from the National University of Malaysia made a presentation titled “Mapping middle power diplomacy: MIKTA, Malaysia and the art of activism”.

 

During the event, Head of Missions of the Embassies of the MIKTA countries in Kuala Lumpur provided insights about the initiative.

 

Turkish Ambassador H.E. Başak Türkoğlu highlighted the MIKTA agenda for 2017 under the Turkish term presidency, namely fight against terrorism and security cooperation, enhancing economic and trade cooperation and addressing the challenges of refugees and migration.
