Joint Speech on the Occasion of Commemorating International Women’s Day (Geneva, March 19, 2015)

On 9 March 2015, MIKTA issued a Joint Statement on the occasion of the 28th Session of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) commemorating International Women’s Day.

As the Republic of Korea is serving as the current MIKTA Chair, the ROK’s Permanent Representative to the UN Office and Other International Organizations in Geneva, Switzerland, Ambassador Choi Seok-young, made the Joint Statement on behalf of the five MIKTA countries.

In the Statement, the member states of MIKTA reaffirmed the commitment to removing all obstacles to gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls, which had been made by many countries through adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action at the Fourth World Conference on Women in 1995.
