The 4th MIKTA Development Cooperation Network
July 15-16, 2024

Joint Statement on the 4th High-Level Meeting of the MIKTA Development Cooperation Network
- We, the Representatives of the Development Cooperation Institutions of the MIKTA member countries, gathered in Mexico City on July 15 and 16, 2024 to participate in the Fourth High Level Meeting of the MIKTA Development Cooperation Network, where we reiterated our commitment to deepen our international cooperation to contribute to our national efforts towards inclusive and sustainable development.
- We recognize the importance of all forms of international cooperation, including South-South and Triangular Cooperation, to address global and regional development challenges. These include poverty, hunger, inequality, climate change, migration, resilient agriculture, disaster management and humanitarian crises. We reiterate our commitment to multilateralism and collaboration to advance common objectives and address global development challenges, to ensure no one is left behind.
- We reiterate our commitment to accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and achieve all 17 Sustainable Development Goals, based on the shared vision of MIKTA Member States to incorporate “Sustainable Development” as one of the areas of cooperation of the group, declared at the 2nd Senior Officials Meeting in 2016.
- We recall our Leaders’ commitment to strengthen our joint actions on global issues where we have shared interests and reaffirm our commitment to promote cooperation, coordination and the exchange of knowledge and experiences on development cooperation policies, strategies and projects through participation in regular discussions.
- We will continue to cooperate and consult to strengthen and deepen our partnership mechanisms, committing to focus on and contribute to jointly agreed priorities, including for the benefit of third countries.
- We will explore areas of cooperation based on the specific priorities and needs of each MIKTA country, facilitating modalities such as technical cooperation, experts and knowledge exchange, joint events and, where appropriate, the contribution of MIKTA countries in cases of humanitarian assistance. These modalities must be considered on a voluntary basis according to the capacity of each country.
- We will advance gender equality and women’s and girls’ empowerment as cross-cutting in all our cooperation efforts aimed at sustainable development and economic growth, including combatting gender stereotypes, and all forms of discrimination and violence against women and girls.
- The Network will support MIKTA’s role on the global stage under the Chair of Mexico to advance collaboration and contribution towards shared progress, prosperity and inclusive and sustainable development.
- The Network will meet annually, and based on the rotating principle of MIKTA the Republic of Korea will host next year’s meeting in Seoul, in order to expand our dialogue and consultation on international development cooperation.
