The launch of MIKTA Development Cooperation Institutions Network and the 1st High-Level Meeting (29 January 2021)

The first High-Level Meeting of MIKTA Development Cooperation Institutions (Mexico – AMEXCID, Indonesia – MOFA, Republic of Korea – KOICA, Turkey – TIKA, Australia – DFAT) convened virtually on 29 January 2021.

 

The President of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Mr. Sohn Hyuk-Sang opened the meeting with his opening remarks.

 

At the meeting, senior representatives from the five institutions launched “MIKTA Development Cooperation Institutions Network” as an official consultation channel and adopted the joint statement. The joint statement contained the Institutions’ shared willingness to strengthen their partnership, thereby maximizing the impact of development cooperation efforts in a coordinated manner. Next, the Institutions shared knowledge and experience on supporting COVID-19 response in partner countries.

 

The meeting concluded with closing remarks by Mr. James Gilling, First Assistant Secretary of Humanitarian, NGOs and Partnership Division from DFAT, as the representative of the Institutions, that will succeed in the chairmanship of the Network.
