The 1st MIKTA Academic Network Conference (Seoul, May 11-12, 2015)

 

The 1st MIKTA Academic Network Conference was held in Seoul, the Republic of Korea, on 11-12 May 2015, under the theme of “Partnership in Knowledge for Better Global Governance.” The participants from the MIKTA institutes- CIDE of Mexico; The Habibie Center of Indonesia; IFANS of the ROK; TEPAV of Turkey; and Coral Bell School, The ANU of Australia- discussed the role of the MIKTA Academic Network; ways for MIKTA to cooperate on climate change; and measures to ensure the sustainability of MIKTA as a consultation body. Following a fruitful discussions, the scholars formed consensus that maintaining support from their political leaders at the highest level and citizens would be crucial to maintain the sustainability of MIKTA cooperation and confirmed that the MIKTA Academic Network would serve as a channel of public diplomacy connecting governments and citizens.
