MIKTA Side Events on “measures taken on eliminating violence against women” (25 May 2017, Vienna)

MIKTA side event on “measures taken on eliminating violence against women” has been held on 25 May 2017 in Vienna, in the margins of the 26th session of the UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice.

Promoting the full protection of women and girls from all acts of violence is a key component of crime prevention and criminal justice policies. It also constitutes an integral part of the Sustainable Development Goals. In this regard, MIKTA countries have jointly committed themselves to eliminating all forms of violence against women and girls.

The Heads of Permanent Missions of Mexico, Indonesia, Korea, Turkey and Australia provided overviews of their national experiences in the side-event. The meeting has been moderated by Mr. John Brandolino, Director of Division for Treaty Affairs of the UNODC.
